*NETWORK ENGINEER*

Must have a working knowledge and hands on experience with Cisco LAN/WAN devices, specifically routers and switches. Contact client on CPR's for initial project investigation within one day. Investigate current network layout, utilization, technology, and capacity. Work with Merrill TR&P to determine Firewall requirements and account for them in design. Using Visio, cleanly draw a design for an initial solution in order to base on client needs and current network. Write configurations as part of design summary and get approval from network architects on all designs. Present design solutions to Merrill Lynch clients and AT&T team. Configure and test routers and hubs per each design implementation.

This position leaves room for advancement to a higher network engineer level and also as far as manangement. One or two years as a first class network engineer and above can get you many promotion points for a management position. With the experience that you will incure as a NTWK ENG will get your foot in the door. This position requires a Bachelors degree in Telecommunications or equivalent work experience.
 






*NETWORK CENTER TECHNICIAN*

Job duties include performing, testing and coordination on the installation, maintenance, and repair or designed circuits, which include trouble reports and repair calls from customers in Inter-Exchance Carrier Centers, General Business Center, Major Acocunts Centers, and other Special Services Operations that coordinate the installation and maintenance activities of customer design ciruits under coordinated service contracts or other special customer arrangements.

This position also leaves plenty of room for advancement with possible positions in management in the future. This position requires extensive experience in basic electricity, basic electronics, electronic devices, fundamentals of transmission, and computer principles. A degree in Telecommunications is not required but preferred. Past work experience and military time go a long way for this position.

*NETWORK OPERATIONS SPECIALIST II*

Responsible for maintaining repair/analysis of switching and circuit telecommunications equipment problems. Locates and repairs equipment problems associated with customer reports. DMS 250 and ION routine switch maintenance, circuit install/repair. Respond to Switch Alarms/Logs. Perform hardware/sofware upgrades and maintain site records and reports. SONET and Asynchronous system maintenance and repairs.


As a NOS in the Sprint Corporation, you can perform many different duties in the Telecommunications field. This position is only a slice of the pie. As a NOS within Sprint leaves much room for advancement. You can move your way up to a NOS III. The next position will be an NTAC ENG for whatever department that you are working in. NTAC Engineers are experts of the material that NOS's work with. They are called upon when NOS's get caught in a difficult situation. This position also also leaves room for advancement to supervisor and management positions.

This position requires four years of Telecommunications experience or an AA degree in electronics. Two years of industry experience will also work. You will also need to be DMS 250 certified or have experience with other electronic switching systems. Optical transmission system experience such as with Alcatel/SONET/NEC/etc is helpful. Other requirements are ISDN experience, LAN/WAN and router experience and the all time requirment...must have PC experience.
